Double points scoring finishes for Tom Booth-Amos in eventful World Supersport season finale

The World Supersport season finale took place in Jerez, Spain this weekend (18 - 20 October) and on Saturday, Triumph Racing and PTR Triumph Factory Racing announced that Tom Booth-Amos would ride for the team another year.

The British rider celebrated with his best supersport result so far lining up in seventh for race one and a flying start that saw him running in third. Unfortunately, he had to serve a long lap penalty for an infraction last time out at Estoril, which dropped him back to seventh. After an entertaining battle with fellow Triumph rider John McPhee, Booth-Amos crossed the line in sixth with McPhee taking the flag in eighth. McPhee’s teammate Baldassari finished in P10, his best result since returning from injury, while Ondrej Vostatek crossed the line in P17.

In Sunday’s race, and the final race of 2024, Booth-Amos had a minor technical issue leaving the pit box, the quick release fuel line became disconnected when he mounted the bike and he was quickly back to the pit-box where the team got him moving again. According to the rules, this meant he had to start from pit lane in P31 instead of eighth where he qualified. He made up an incredible 20 places in the race, showing his pace and race craft to finish P11 in the race securing tenth overall in the World Championship. Outgoing teammate, Vostatek, finished P17 again from 23rd on the grid.

“Overall I’m very happy with race one. It would have been nice not to have had the long lap because I felt like I could have gone with the two front guys. I just lost a little bit of rhythm after I made the long lap and I thought, after a rough weekend last week, I just wanted to bring it home. Unfortunately today we had a bit of an issue before the start so I had to start at the back of the grid. After this, the mind set changed a bit to just secure tenth in the championship so I pushed my way through to eleventh and thought I would just stay safe there. Thanks to the guys for everything and now we need to look forward and focus on a stronger next year.”
